How It Shines (Ways A Value May Express Itself)
You may pursue a career in nursing, caretaking, victim’s rights, religion, teaching or social services. You are known for being responsive and empathetic. You may be the person in your family or circle of friends that others go to for support and compassion. You may perceive or see things in a way others do not.
Tip to Honor this Value In a Positive Way
One of the aspects of this value is support. So, if you are looking for a way to honor your value of sensitivity, an organization like Support Your Vet may be just the thing. Set up by the IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America), it is a website designed to help veterans and their families and friends start the conversation about what they are dealing with and how best to support each other.
This is just one of the many veterans’ support organizations that exist all over the world. Even if an immediate family member or close friend is not a veteran, you can still support veterans through these groups. Along with mental disabilities such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, many veterans must deal with physical injuries incurred during their service. Most of these organizations have staff to voice their opinion and support vets at the policy level, but they never have enough grass roots support for veterans and their families.
